As of immediately, Volkswagen Financial Services AG (VWFSAG) is represented in Mexico by its own captive automobile bank. As the first such automobile bank, Volkswagen Bank Mexico is not only taking on a pioneering role on the Mexican market for the future, it is also the only institute to date that is in a position to provide direct bank products to that country's private customer segment.

The adoption of this field of business, which reshapes the contours of the entire financial services industry in Mexico, fits in well with the VWFSAG refinancing strategy. The deposit business represents an important pillar in this context that currently makes up 20 percent of the worldwide refinancing volume of VWFSAG.

With the operational market launch of Volkswagen Bank Mexico, which will take place at the beginning of 2008, Europe's largest automobile bank is expanding its involvement in Latin America. "The investment in the Mexican market constitutes an important milestone in our strategy of internationalisation," stresses Burkhard Breiing, Chairman of the Board of Management of VWFSAG.
