Change of leadership: Andreas Gruber is the new CEO of the heycar Group

German-British automotive manager with more than 20 years experience in the industry succeeds Florian Schlieper, who is leaving the company at his own request in April

Growth course already embarked upon will be vigorously pursued 

Berlin, 10 January.2023. Andreas Gruber has assumed responsibility as CEO of the heycar Group with effect from 1 January 2023. His predecessor Florian Schlieper is leaving the company at his own request on 30 April 2023. Until that time, Schlieper and Gruber will be working closely together during a transition period. "We are delighted that we have been able to attract Andreas Gruber for the position, an absolute expert in international automotive sales. He will continue to drive the growth trajectory we have embarked upon and thus strengthen heycar's role as a modern automotive e-commerce company," said Anthony Bandmann, Chairman of the Shareholders' Meeting of the heycar Group and Member of the Management Board of Volkswagen Financial Services AG with responsibility for Sales and Marketing. He added: "I would like to thank Florian Schlieper for his outstanding work and wish him every success and new and exciting tasks in the future."


Andreas Gruber is an accomplished expert in the industry with more than two decades of experience in various management positions in the automotive and financial services industries. Gruber started his professional career in 2004 as Manager Strategic Steering for the Pacific region at BMW Financial Services. This was followed by further positions in Singapore and Melbourne before he returned to Germany in 2010 and took over responsibility as Manager Sales Steering New Markets. From 2012 to mid-2015, Gruber was Director of Alphera Financial Services UK, the British subsidiary of BMW Group Financial Services. He then moved to Volkswagen Financial Services, where Gruber continued his career as Head of Corporate Development & Strategy. After this post, Gruber moved to Vancouver, Canada, for four years, where he carried through the global expansion of the payment services provider PaybyPhone as Global CEO & President. Most recently, he had returned to Volkswagen Financial Services in 2022 as Vice President, Digital & Direct Europe.

Andreas Gruber made the following statement as the new CEO of the heycar Group: "Florian Schlieper has placed the heycar Group in an excellent position over the past three and a half years. We will resolutely continue to pursue the growth course we have adopted and build on what we have achieved so far. I am very much looking forward to this exciting task and to tackling the challenges that lie ahead of us together with our ambitious team."
